Hudson Community Enterprises is a collaborative
non-profit enterprise made up of forward-thinking social ventures and
innovative employment preparation programs that enable special needs
people to become self-sufficient. HCE has been serving Hudson
County for nearly 50 years and offers vocational training in a variety
of employment areas, vocational rehabilitation and job placement

Programs Vocational Assessment Transition Svcs Hudson County Enterprises (formerly the Occupational Center of Hudson County) was founded by the National Council of Jewish Woman in 1957. HCE started with 11 clients and one staff member who was the Executive Director. Its focus remains the same: providing people with special needs with opportunities that encourage socializations skills, self-reliance and the ability to perform daily activities with confidence. Vocational training was limited during this time but with the funding from the New Jersey Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, vocational training was implemented. Fiscal
Year 2002 was pivotal in terms of the HCE’s mission. Changes occurred which tested the organization’s core. Despite these changes, the organization remained vital.
HCE developed a plan to launch several
social ventures designed to provide job training in an environment that
promotes growth and success. Its first social venture, Metro
Shredding is up and running.
