Hudson County Awards Cleaning Contract to HCE
HCE was recently awarded a contract by the County of Hudson
to clean the Hudson County Plaza. Located at the old Block Drug site, this
340,000 square foot building will be cleaned daily by a maintenance crew from
HCE. When fully occupied the building will house 650 workers as well as several
county agencies including welfare. This is a tremendous opportunity for our
clients who will earn $10.88 per hour plus get hospitalization. Our staff has
been expanded to include three new working supervisors.

individuals with disabilities.
Planning for Disability
Awareness Month is Underway
Each October is set aside as National Disability Awareness
Month. As one of the events that month, the County of Hudson will be hosting a
breakfast on HCE’s behalf to introduce HCE to the growing hotel industry in
Hudson County. The breakfast will be kicked off with remarks by the County
Executive and the hotels will be introduced to our services via a power point
presentation. If any of you have any ideas or suggestions for that month, please
contact Maureen Walliser
HCE gets certified as a UEZ
Business
HCE was recently certified as a UEZ business.
Businesses participating in the UEZ Program can charge half the standard sales
tax rate on certain purchases made by their customers. From the initial 10 UEZ's
that were designated in 1984, the program has grown to 32 zones in 37
municipalities throughout the state. Jersey City is the oldest of these zones.
Let’s Thank our
ACCESS Students for a Job Well Done.
Our Litter
Patrol now has clean jackets as a result of our addition of a Laundry Room to
our Transition Program. Each day students from Ms. Bell’s class clean and dry
these jackets. Not only are these students gaining valuable skills, but the
members of our Litter Patrol have cleaner uniforms.
