“Far and away the best community
rehabilitation program we’ve ever seen. The quality of their services,
particularly Metro Scanning’s document imaging services, surpasses
services offered by private sector companies,” said CNA President Nils
Richardson. “They’ve devised incredibly creative and self-sustaining
programs that have been very successful in helping the disabled become
autonomous. And they’ve brought together the private, government and
non-profit worlds to help make all of this possible,” he said. “That is
why we’ve recognized their work with the Outstanding Community
Rehabilitation Program Award,” he said.

"HCE and
its newest social enterprise, Metro Scanning, were chosen [to receive Kessler Foundation $100,000 grant] because of its wide-ranging
impact on the special needs community. This social enterprise business
has multi-dimensional benefits for special needs people and is one of
the best we’ve seen,” said Kessler Foundation President D. McWilliams
Kessler. “They are raising the bar on what a social enterprise can
accomplish and the ways in which it can galvanize businesses to support
their community. HCE’s vision supports Kessler Foundations’ strategic
mission of focusing on employment to improve the lives of people with
disabilities and encouraging independence,” he said.

“[HCE] is commended for the
social enterprises it is developing to enhance and broaden employment

chose be able to adhere to strict guidelines regarding
confidentiality and security. We chose Metro Shredding because
they’re a first class organization that provides secure and reliable
services. Equally important, they support the community by employing
people with special needs and by funneling their profits back into
vocational training programs offered by their parent company. By
doing business with Metro Shredding, we are supporting our
community,” he said.
