Local school
districts refer students to Hudson Community Enterprises for
Vocational Assessments. HCE’s Vocational Assessment Unit houses a range
of assessment tools to assist in creating a Vocational Assessment Report
that can be utilized as a basis for transition planning. In terms of
transition planning it is critical that students, their parents and Child
Study Teams from School districts have thorough information regarding each
student’s interests, preferences, aptitudes and capabilities.
This service will be available as a resource to districts. These
comprehensive assessments provided by Hudson Community Enterprises can
last up to 5 full days. On
the first day of an evaluation, the student would meet with a vocational
evaluator for a complete intake screening. As part of the screening, a thorough history would be
obtained, and the student would have the opportunity to express his
vocational preferences and interests.
Based on the student’s stated interests and apparent skill level,
an Individual Evaluation Plan would be developed by the student and
evaluator. This plan will include questions to be answered by the
evaluator that involve specific focus areas expressed by the student and
the methods to address these factors. Testing administered would include
standardized tests to assess vocational interests, and academic
achievement. Beyond these
regularly -administered tests, a variety of standardized work samples
would be administered. Upon
completion of the evaluation, a complete final evaluation report will be
completed. The report will include recommendations and goals based on the
student’s abilities and interests.
